What one thing can instantly give you more color and confidence while helping you appear younger, thinner and more toned? A spray tan!
A spray tan is the only safe way to tan (heads up: if you use a tanning booth before the age of 30, your chances of skin cancer can go up by 75%!) because it's UV-free. Spray tans consist of dihydroxyacetone (DHA), an ingredient derived from sugar that temporarily darkens the skin to mimic a real tan. DHA has been approved by the FDA for more than 30 years.
All of our spray tans here at Image By Lisa boutique are made out of completely natural ingredients, and completely customized to complement your skin tone, desired look and skin care needs. Bonus: you'll be sprayed by a licensed aesthetician who truly understands the ins and outs of skin.
Whether you're a spray tan newbie or veteran, we know spray tanning can be nuanced and intimidating. Today we'll jump into a few of our most commonly asked questions to help you learn some of the basics of spray tanning, what to expect, how to prepare and how to extend the life of your tan. Check them out below. Let's get glowing!
What's the difference between get sprayed in a booth at a tanning salon and getting a custom spray tan at Image By Lisa?
No automated booths or one-size-fits-all approach here! We can listen to exactly what you need (how dark you want it, what your specific skin concerns are, etc.) and help select the best formula for your unique skin tone and type.
We can hit every spot on your body for the most even, perfect tan, eliminating common spray tanning booth accidents, such as orange feet and dark elbows.
We can truly customize your tan along the way based on the type of tone and depth you desire, no matter where. Want your legs a little darker since they're typically paler than the rest of your body? Want a little bit extra on your back to show off in that backless gala gown? We got you!
No choking on strong odors or having your body dripping in spray tanning solution! Our spray tan room has TONS of ventilation and extraction fans surrounding the spray booth, as well as big to help dry the body off.
Each Image By Lisa tan comes with a post-spray tan (talc-free, non-toxic, and yummy tropical smelling) powder. We apply this powder over your tan to help prevent that 'sticky' feeling you'll get with a spray tan booth.
We'll follow up with you and make sure you're happy - taking good notes along the way so we have your unique spray tan on file!
What are the differences between your different tanning options - Basic, Rapid and Premium? Which one is right for me?
Basic ($40) lasts 4-6 days, takes 12-24 hours to develop, meaning it's recommended that you get this tan 1-2 (preferably 2) days before an event
Rapid ($50) lasts 5-7 days, and only takes 1-3 hours to develop, meaning it's perfect for same day events because you can shower much sooner! Rapid tans also give you more control over the depth of your tan - i.e. shower same day for a lighter tan or next day for a deeper tan.
Premium ($60) is our longest lasting tan, lasting up to 10 days! It takes 12-24 hours to develop, meaning it's recommended that you get this tan 1-2 (preferably 2) days before an event. Though all of our tans are anti-odor, Premium tans have virtually no smell, making them great for those who may have to return to work after their spray tan. Our Premium tan also has instant cosmetic bronzers, an antioxidant boost for maximum color absorption and added hydration post tan for the most extended tan.
If you're unsure which tan would be suit your desired look and needs, just ask!
